With GOAJARS Shakshuka already slow-cooked and full of Mediterranean flavour, this Bolognese comes together remarkably quickly. Choose a well-marbled cut and have your butcher mince it fresh for the best texture and flavour.
YOU’LL NEED
- 500g freshly minced beef, lamb or pork
- 1 jar GOAJARS Shakshuka
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- Olive oil
- Sea salt
- Kalamata olives, sliced (optional)
METHOD
1. Heat a generous drizzle of olive oil in a wide, heavy-based pan. Add the onion and cook gently until soft,
translucent and lightly golden.
2. Add the minced meat and cook over medium-high heat, breaking it up as it cooks. Let it brown properly and
allow excess moisture to evaporate. This caramelisation is where much of the flavour develops.
3. Stir in the jar of GOAJARS Shakshuka and the Kalamata olives, if using. Season with a little sea salt.
4. Lower the heat and simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, allowing the meat and sauce to come together.
